The Festival of the Winds

Bondi Pavilion Community Cultural Centre in association with The Australian Kiteflyers Society presents
The Festival of the Winds.

Make sure you don’t miss Australia’s largest and most exciting competitive kite flying festival down at Sydney’s most famous beach, Bondi Beach.

The skies will come alive with hundreds of kites of all shapes and sizes including a giant 90ft squid, a 50 ft manta ray, a 'blue meanie' that has not been seen in Australia until this year, and many more.

International guests include Michael Goddard from the UK who is a teacher, designer, artist and kite maker who specialises in exploring the dynamics of visual form, who will present his giant kites. Richard Wotton from New Zealand will showcase his ‘old-style’ kites made from wood and fabric based on the designs of the early 1900s, and other international guests along with kite-flyers from all over Australia will add their fabulous creations to the vibrant sky-scape.

Come and fly a kite, make a kite at one of our workshops, bring your own or buy a kite from one of the many stalls in Bondi Park on the day.

Kites, foodstalls, adult and children’s workshops, wandering performers, music and dance entertainment will all be present at The Annual Festival of the Winds.

For a wonderful FREE family day out make sure you mark the Festival of the Winds in the calendar!
