This year, NRMA Motoring & Services has focused its efforts on delivering great new benefits and services to our Members. I’m pleased to say that recently we launched NRMA’s new driver simulators and driving school at our North Strathfield office.
The simulators and driving school are part of our new Safer Driving Program that aims to improve safety on our roads. Targeting novice drivers, they give L-platers the start they need to become safer, more qualified drivers.
It’s part of our commitment to ensuring our young Members don’t just get a drivers licence – they actually learn how to drive.
The simulators and on-road driving course will teach young drivers how to respond to real-life situations behind the wheel. From there, we will take them out on the road so that they can get that experience first hand.
Practising driving skills is only part of the solution, which is why NRMA has also launched a new Safer Driving DVD to help young drivers with some of the theory behind becoming a good driver.
Two-and-a-half years ago the thought of NRMA having the financial stability to be able to invest in its Members at such a level was a pipedream.
The Company was losing $1 million a week which was totally unsustainable. That is why our Members today have every right to be excited about our future.
Recently we announced our financial results for the year. An operating profit of $38.1 million after investment income is the best we have been in since demutualisation.
The high number of Members who have voted in this year’s Board election is also a positive sign that our Members are engaged with their NRMA and want to have a say in the future direction we take.
I hope all our Members enjoy reading the new look Open Road. It’s part of our new look that you will start to see in our brochures, advertising and patrol vans. The new design of Open Road has come about after much consultation with our Members and we feel it will make reading your Member magazine easier and more enjoyable.
Finally, as we count down to the festive season I wish all our Members a Merry Christmas and safe and happy New Year on our roads.
Kind regards,
Tony Stuart, CEO
