RuleSmartz 4 Kids

Educational and fun: they’re the key words to helping kids learn about road safety.

RuleSmartz 4 Kidz is an interactive internet-based game for children aged 7–11 that aims to make learning road safety fun.

It uses the latest technology and can be played on almost any computer connected to the internet by simply visiting the NRMA website. Scores are given for completing certain tasks and there’s also a fun multiple-choice quiz.

The game was launched at Blacktown South Primary School in Sydney’s west and during NRMA’s Mobile Member Centre (MMC) visit to Albury, and has proven to be very popular with kids of all ages.

Players choose a character that is either walking or cycling; they are then tested on their ability to make safe road choices.

“What’s so good about RuleSmartz 4 Kidz is that the kids like to get a perfect score, so many children keep playing it until they get a perfect score,” says Anne Morphett, NRMA Policy Advisor.

“It’s fun to play but it also reinforces key safety messages for that age group. The more they play, the more they will remember and the more ingrained those basic road safety habits become.”

Also, watch out for the MMC. RuleSmartz 4 Kidz will be permanently installed on computers in the MMC, allowing children in regional and rural areas to take part in the game.
