Editor in Chief Needra DSouza With the heat of summer peetering out, we now head into the prettiest season of the year. To see the leaves on the trees turn autumnal red, orange and gold can be breathtaking. If you live in a coastal area, it’s not quite so noticeable, of course, but if you journey inland to some of our historic towns, you can see and enjoy all the richness of the season.

Our cover story focuses on three such towns: Bundanoon, Bathurst and Griffith. All are at their best in autumn when they host diverse festivals that capture the spirit of their communities.

If you see those four round things on your car as alien objects then turn to our article on tyres. They’re not the yawn fest you might think; in fact, they’re integral to the way your car performs and how safe it is.

And if, like me, you baulk at the idea of changing a tyre, our cut-out guide to changing a car tyre shows you how straightforward it is, and you don’t have to be a weight lifter! While NRMA’s roadside assistance patrols are always just a phone call away, it’s a basic component of car maintenance that we all should know.

The controversy over recent fatalities involving P-plate drivers continues to rage. NRMA is on the NSW Government’s Young Drivers Advisory Panel, which is working to establish measures to keep our young drivers safe on the road. You can read about NRMA’s position on the current measures that have been discussed. And to voice your own opinion, post your comments on our blog.

We are all excited here about the launch of our new magazine, Australian Caravan + RV. It’s a quarterly magazine that goes on sale this month and is chock-full of all that you want, and need, to know about caravans, motorhomes and other recreational vehicles. To receive your copy, complete the subscription form on page 60 of the magazine.

Have a lovely Easter and take it slow on the roads.
