2005 Election

Under the 2005 Election Rules, all candidates who stood for election to the Board of National Roads and Motorists’ Association Limited (NRMA Motoring & Services) are required to lodge an Election Campaign Contributions and Payments Return (even if no contributions or payments were received or paid) by the end of three months after the Election Date. The three-month period ended on February 4, 2006.

The following Members, who stood for election to the Board at the 2005 election, did not lodge a return on or before February 4, 2006 and, under the rules, are therefore ineligible to stand for the next election to the NRMA Motoring & Services Board at the 2008 elections:

  • Bernard Grinberg - Coghlan region
  • Kharwa Khalil - Keele region
  • Alison J King - Townsend region
  • Monique M Llanes - Perry region
  • Douglas Sutherland - Simms region
  • Lindsay V Vidler - Townsend region
  • Warren W H Woodley - Townsend region

All group convenors lodged a group return, as required by the 2005 Election Rules.

Travelodge #10

NRMA Motoring & Services recently purchased the Capri Plaza Hotel in Newcastle bringing the total number of hotels in our Travelodge investment to 10.

According to NRMA director Kyle Loades, the hotel “reinforces our commitment to regional areas and regional Members”.
The Capri Plaza Hotel will be re-branded Travelodge Newcastle City, and a $3 million refurbishment program will begin immediately.

The purchase of the hotel promises to give NRMA Members greater access to Newcastle and the breathtaking Hunter Coast.
Members wishing to stay at the hotel, or at any of the other Travelodge Hotels across Australia, will continue to receive a range of special deals through Open Road magazine, including discounted rates.
