Last year was a fantastic year for NRMA Motoring & Services.
Our Members will be pleased to know that on almost every level NRMA has returned to its position at the time of demutualisation. As I reflect on the last 12 months, I have come to realise that NRMA has enormous potential when it is focused on doing what we’re meant to do – work for our Members. |
We reported to almost 300 Members at the meeting, and those who watched online, about the company’s strength financially and the new benefits delivered to you throughout the year.
Members voted to amend our constitution. They also supported a motion by former patrols to remove Richard Talbot from the board.
The board accepted your decisions and is now committed to making 2007 even better.
NRMA’s Alternative Fuel Summit in October and our campaign for a better deal for motorists with petrol prices showed how effective we are when we fight for motorists.
At the close of 2006 petrol prices had stabilised, with our Members enjoying a period of almost two months when prices dropped to almost $1 again in Sydney.
Our campaigns for more road funding resulted in record spending by both the Federal Government and State Government.
It was the leadership shown by NRMA that forced the NSW Government to return roads around the Cross City Tunnel to motorists. We also held the debate on helping keep young drivers safe on the road.
All of this was done on your behalf and today NRMA has found its voice again as the one true voice for motorists.
There is much work to be done in 2007. We have Federal and NSW State elections.
The board will not let the needs of motorists get lost in the election campaigns – our roads need to be fixed and we will be working to ensure that safer roads are a priority.
Throughout the year, this board will also work together, alongside management, to help keep the company financially strong and look for new ways for you to get even more out of your membership.
Thank you for all your support throughout the last 12 months. On behalf of the whole board can I say we look forward to working for you in 2007.
